Description
Our new FASCIQ IASTM ‘Wave’ tool is available! Designed in collaboration with a world renowned professor specialising in fascia, Dr. Robert Schleip. Over the past two years, we have worked closely with Dr. Schleip to develop a versatile tool for instrumented assisted soft tissue mobilisation. It comes with a lifetime guarantee like all IASTM tools we offer. The Wave tool is presented in a fabric bag to carry it around with you and protect it from damage.
Designed with a hook, and a variety of sharp and smooth, convex and concave edges as well as a thumb sizes indentation distributing the pressure across the entire surface area of the thumb to reduce strain on the thumb when adding pressure. Dr. Schleip was personally involved in coming up with the idea of the tool’s shape and coming up with the ideal edges for working with the tool.

Dr. Schleip’s explanation of the Wave Tool
First of all, it has several convex shapes, some more rounded and others more sharp. But it also has concave shapes. On each of these edges, there is a more acute angle but also a smooth angle. You can find any sharp or smooth corner on the convex or concave side that you want to use for treatment.
Most importantly, it has an indentation for your left or right thumb and that allows you to make very slow motion hand movements where you can dissipate the pressure over a larger volume of your thumb. This means that, for example, when working on the heel pad, you can lean into the instrument with many kilos of pressure and still have a very nice sensitivity without losing too much sensitivity because of the local pressure in your thumb.
Particularly with the indention, you can use both hands to ensure that you get the slowest glide through the tissue to, say, half a millimetre per second or even slower, which you would not be able to do with your bare hands in a continuous movement that does not fall into a stop and go motion.
And, of course, there is also a hook on the Wave tool. With the hook, you can do more localised work. Either with the round shape or the more sharp shape. And if you are working on the septi, you can just do a local approach to separate a muscle envelope on one side from the other and do a shift-like swing movement in between.
All in all, it is a great tool if you don’t want to carry ten or twenty different tools in your tool bag. It is made of high-quality surgical steel, which allows you to make very precise movements. The tool also assumes your body temperature within a very short time, making it comfortable for both you and the person (or animal!) you are treating. The Wave tool can be used for IASTM treatments on both humans and animals. Both can benefit greatly from it.
